Stephen L. Billeb
While primarily nationally known as a stockmaker, he also does many metalsmithing tasks and likes to oversee as much of the total work as possible in order to coordinate a custom firearm into a unified whole. His specialties are in lightweight sporters and double guns, particularly where styling and components can lend themselves to a particular purpose or theme. In 1983, Billeb helped found the ACGG and has served as a director, vice president,
and president of that organization. In 1990 he joined the teaching staff of
Southeastern Community College, West Burlington, Iowa, and oversaw the
evolution of the gunsmithing program at that institution emphasizing custom
firearms. In 2001 Steve moved back to Wyoming to enjoy hunting, fishing, and the Western environment. He is doing gunwork from his shop in Cody and accepting commissions for sporting rifles and shotguns.
